For example, if someone tells you, “I know you don’t like me around here”. In NLP this type of statement is called a “distorted mind read”, because the person who is saying it has no specific basis to validate the statement, and yet he or she believes it to be true. A good way to influence, and hopefully change this distorted view is to ask a Meta Model question: “What makes you think that I don’t like you?” If the person replies, “You always give me a hard time”, you can answer back with another meta model question: “How specifically did you come up with that conclusion?” By listening to the answers and not validating his distorted beliefs, you can start to build rapport with that hostile person.

The Self-Hypnosis Trip To The Rubbish Dump
Here in Bournemouth on the south coast of the UK where I live, if you want to use local refuse facilities, then you have to drive all your rubbish or waste up there and show them your council tax bill or some other evidence that you are a tax payer in the region and thus allowed to be there. Recently, it was decided that our lawnmower had to be taken there and a new one was to be purchased. The old one had outlived it’s expected time on this planet and sheer laziness on my part had…
NLP and Reframing
Each person sees an experience, situation, or event in a different way. This unique way of viewing things is called a frame. Due to varying beliefs and values of people, any given person can have “limited” frames. Just as a picture frame has borders that limit the picture, so do we have psychological borders that limit our perception to a certain perspective.
Letting Go of Everything That Is Not You
Many of us live with an internal struggle of wondering who we really are and trying to please others. To be truly happy you have to let go of everything that is not you.
Many hypnotherapists that I mentor and supervise talk about how the client just talked and talked and talked and talked and talked. They just (for want of a better expression) dumped a load in the therapy session.
Reframing: Try Taking a New Stance
Could the process of changing your thinking about a situation or challenge be all that you really need to do in order to make a significant breakthrough? In this post, we’ll consider how you can do that by changing your stance – the basic paradigm that underpins your approach to some situation or challenge you must face.
Subliminal hypnosis is a method of inducing someone to respond to questions and suggestions through the use of a subliminal image. The hypnotist can use the process to prompt the individual involved to do things he or she was unable to do before in real life. In the field of hypnotherapy, the idea of using subliminal images to hypnotize is very rare.
Coaching With NLP
There are many disciplines that make effective use of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques, but perhaps one area in which NLP can be particularly effective is coaching. A coach can bring the necessary expertise to a performer and communicate strategies for increased performance without burdening the individual with having to understand the underlying principles, pre-suppositions and theory.
NLP: Modelling Success
In my workshops, we sometimes discuss what I like to call the ‘fake it till you make it’ principle. This is the idea that you can always act the part, whatever it is that may be required, and that, if you do this well enough, the act can appear to be indistinguishable from the genuine article.
The Awesome Power Of Covert Hypnosis
Covert Hypnosis is a powerful technique for influencing other people and improving your self esteem. The power of covert hypnosis should not be underestimated, though it is more common than most people think.
