In this article I will endeavor to explain my strange fascination with a jump in skating referred to as the axel. Yes, the only jump in skating that takes off from a forward direction does a 540 in the air and comes down on the other foot. Well that’s the theory, read on to discover how it actually works out in practice. In reality it’s not that hard, I see 7 year-olds doing them all the time!
