There has to be a conscious and deliberate effort to establish and promote an animal friendly and humane society as this ultimate goal complement other major variables that are critical to our own survival. It is directly linked to other key issues like environmental protection, poverty alleviation and food security.

The Penis Is Mightier Than the Sword!
Secular Israelis view the future with trepidation as the power of fundamentalist ideology seems to grow daily. It has reached a point where advertisers in Jerusalem no longer…
Seriously, Is This What We’ve Become?
Cathedral High (MA) quarterback Matt Owens ran virtually untouched into the end zone scoring the biggest touchdown of his life. With six minutes remaining in the game, Owens’ touchdown gave Cathedral an 18-16 lead over Blue Hills HS and quite possibly, the Massachusetts state championship. But it was not to be as Owens was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct for raising his fist while racing to the end zone.
Consideration in Legislation
Law is among the fundamental building blocks of human civilization. It is dynamic and has evolved along with human society. Many contend that it significantly distinguishes the human race from other creatures.
Humility Breeds Integrity
Some thoughts about the Wall Street protesters, a growing movement in a number of cities in the US. I believe we may have a group of well intentioned people aiming their anger in the right direction – but for the wrong, underlying reasons. “What we’ve got here is failure to communicate” said the prison captain in Cool Hand Luke after Paul Newman refused to sacrifice the little remaining dignity he had left.
Actually dying literally – and dying figuratively! The phenomenon of Black Africans illegally infiltrating into Israel continues unabated. The vast majority come from Sudan, Eritrea and Ethiopia, but some are from other parts of sub-Saharan Africa Why do they risk their lives to come to the most vilified nation on the face of the Earth?
Crazy Beautiful
It never ceases to amaze how completely blown away our overseas visitors are when they first see Sydney Harbour. Truly this is what makes Sydney the most beautiful city in the greatest country in the world. What an incredible badge of honour and what an awesome responsibility to live up to.
Why I Support The Fair Tax
This article discusses why I support the Fair Tax. It gives several reasons why I support it.
When I Was A Cape Buffalo
In 2009 I was laid off from my full time writing gig (hooray economy woes!), and because it came as neither shock nor sadness it allowed me to consider what I actually wanted to do. I’d always wanted to work with animals so I checked out the employment page on the San Diego Zoo website. I put myself through college driving buses for the university (pretty sweet job, especially since it paid really well and fit my schedule), so when I saw an open job for a caravan driver at the Safari Park I thought it might be fun.
Realistic Animal Activism
Since I first learned as a young child that animals were harmed and killed (and not just for necessary food) I believed strongly in animal activism and voiced my opinions. In junior high school the only meat I ate was poultry and I refused to buy shoes or clothes with leather as my personal statement. Pretty much every single choose-your-topic school report, term paper or research project from junior high through college was animal related (mostly elephants); my first historical figure project in 6th grade was on Rachel Carson, author of Silent Spring. Today I’m not much different: I eat fish and sometimes poultry (especially when it’s going to give my mom an aneurism if I snub her Thanksgiving turkey), but I limit my intake to rare occasion and sustainable species as much as possible, I buy cruelty-free personal products and am constantly learning, researching and changing my habits to be sustainable, animal-friendly and conscience clean whenever I have a choice.
