What is Aerobic Exercise? The American College of Sports Medicine defines aerobic exercise, also referred to as cardiovascular exercise or cardio exercise, as “any activity that uses large muscle groups, can be maintained continuously, and is rhythmic in nature.” As opposed to strength training, which primarily utilizes the phosphagen energy system to provide energy, cardiovascular exercise primarily utilizes the aerobic energy system (oxidative energy system).

Not all forms of cardio are created equal. You may be surprised that running on a treadmill is not the same as running outside, both for you health, and for muscle development.

It is true, you can play soccer at any age and I don’t care if you are an awesome player or just want to stay in great shape and have excellent cardiovascular conditioning. I love the sport since I played it all my life. I was born in South America and soccer or futbol (in Spanish) is the biggest sport around.
