As a younger man, I had ridden my 10 speed, actually a donated 10 speed for the cause, from Oregon to Mexico. Trust me when I tell you this, there’s a lot more to riding a bicycle long distances then you may have imagined. Far too many people jump onto a high-performance bicycle and get themselves hurt when they didn’t have to.

Soccer is called “the beautiful game” due to its simplicity and popularity; unlike ice hockey or baseball, it can be played on a patch of dirt with nothing more than a bundle of rags. Yet soccer, like any other human activity, reflects more about the people playing the game than a mere scorecard or trophy.

A couple of weeks ago, I started reading Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN, a history of the network from its inception (started with a $9,000 investment) to the huge conglomerate it is today. At 745 pages, I thought it would take me forever to read it. Instead, it took me one week.

Author Gabriel Busch has just written his debut novel, “Circle Change”. Set in the world of professional baseball, the book explores the themes of love, dreams, loss, grief and redemption. Busch took a few minutes to sit down with Chris McBrien to answer a few questions about his novel.
